Combination of Panther athletics and academics earns DU lofty status
Drury University ranked fourth nationally among the top academic and athletic colleges and universities in NCAA Division II last school year in the third annual Collegiate Power Rankings released Monday by the National Collegiate Scouting Association.
The NCSA Power Rankings provide data that allows prospective student-athletes and parents to evaluate the particular strengths of universities based on academic and athletic factors, as well as student-athlete graduation rates.
The ranking are calculated for each NCAA Division I, II and III school by averaging the US News & World Report ranking (in which Drury was 12th last year), the US Sports Academy's Director Cup rank (in which Drury finished a school-best 11th) and the student-athlete graduation rate of each school (fourth nationally).
The top five in D-II was headed by No. I UC-Santa Barbara, followed by Stonehill (Mass.) College, Truman State, Drury and Bentley (Mass.) College.
Among Drury's fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference member schools, Indianapolis was next at No. 21 followed by SIU-Edwardsville at No. 26 and Lewis at No. 32.
