Personal Statement
Hello my name is Wyatt Berg, and I’m from Fairbanks, Alaska. I am a junior at Austin E. Lathrop High School. Currently, I am 5’10” and 160 pounds. I have been the varsity-starting catcher since my freshman year. I throw right and bat left.
Baseball has always played a huge role in my life. Because of that I am creating this profile to help ensure that baseball remains a part of my life for years to come. I am a team first type of player. As a catcher, I understand that I am in the service business. I serve my pitcher, my coach, and all my teammates.
In college, I plan to study exercise science and continue my studies pursuing a degree in physical therapy. My second academic choice is chiropractic care.
During my high school season I usually hit in the two-spot because I am a gap-to-gap situational hitter. I can drop bunts down, hit behind the runner, and go to the opposite field. I take pride in both the defensive and offensive aspects of my game. My main position is catcher, but I can also play in the outfield.
My most memorable baseball moment is when I was selected to play on Big League Edge’s 13u team and travel to Latin America for The Latin America Baseball Classic. I traveled to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and played with guys from various locations in Latin America. This experience opened my eyes to baseball around the world. The experience I was given made me very thankful for all the opportunities I have in America. Baseball has helped me become a leader not only on the field, but also in the classroom, as well as in everyday life. I am determined to play baseball at the college level.
