Personal Statement
My name is Luke Thompson. I am currently a Freshman at Casteel High School in Queen Creek, AZ.
Let me start by saying upfront that I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about me both as a person and a ballplayer. I have always been very driven and determined to be successful in my life and I love to compete. I am hopeful that I will be able to continue my baseball career and have the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level.
I have always been a very hard worker. I have worked daily on developing a fundamentally sound game which will provide a great foundation to build from as I gain size and strength. I am a catcher and middle infielder, but have also spent time playing all three outfield positions. I am an excellent baserunner and have been switch hitting full time for 6 years now.
I am extremely motivated to play college baseball. I realize that it is a privilege that is awarded to those who dedicate themselves on the field and in the classroom. I have been an “A” student for my entire school career and I am taking a course load that includes a significant number of honors and AP courses. I understand that the number of opportunities available are as much dependent on my academic success as they are on my athletic achievements, and I don’t want to limit myself in any way. At some point in time I know my baseball career will come to an end, and my goal is to have been able to be a major part of the program on the field while earning a degree that will lead to the next part of my life.
I am interested in playing baseball at a school that allows me to be a major contributor, where I am able to be an asset both at the plate and defensively. I will always seek to be a positive influence in the clubhouse and on the field, to be a great teammate, and to do my best to represent my school in a way that I, my family, my teammates, and my coaching staff can be proud of.
Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about me and good luck to you and your team in the upcoming season.
