Personal Statement
Hello Coach, my name is Tristan Waring and I play for Sahuarita High School in Arizona. I am a military brat who has lived all across America and the world. Because of this lifestyle, I understand personally the traits of sacrifice, flexibility, resiliency, and mental toughness. My goal is to make it to the next level and exceed the expectations placed before me. I believe in the concept of “team before me,” and I look for every opportunity to develop and challenge those around me for the betterment of the club. I also understand that pushing myself to the extremes furthers that goal as well.
My competitiveness and drive highlight my prospect potential. When I was ten years old, still living out of a suitcase for months-on-end when we moved to Germany, I saw the Little League World Series on TV and said, “I’m going to play there.” Three years later, I went to Williamsport as part of Team Europe. That same drive propels me to play at the collegiate level. Moving with the Air Force has taught me to adapt to any situation, good or bad, and to find the opportunity in every challenge. I love catching because of the pressure and the position-- seeing the entire field leads directly to a leadership role from the player who can directly control the tempo and direction of the game. While my competitiveness pushes me to want to be the starting man behind the dish, if you put me in the bullpen I’m going to make our pitchers better while I develop my framing and blocking.
I believe my will is my strength; I want to lead by example, and I study the best in the pursuit of greater abilities for our team. Thank you Coach for your time and I look forward to an opportunity to speak with you personally.
