Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Aiden McIntyre. I’m a 6’4” 215 pound starting pitcher at City Community College in San Diego,
This past season I earned 23 innings on a sophmore heavy staff. I recorded a 1.52 ERA and ended the season as a valuable part of our bullpen. During the regular season I sat 82-86 MPH and was effective. I have worked all summer to improve myself and it has payed off. I sat 86-90 MPH through my 40 innings this summer. I finished with 40 innings, 43 strikeouts, 5 walks, and a 1.62 ERA. I’m looking forward to returning to Otero as a starting pitcher and and backing that up with a good season.
As a student of the game, I also bring to my team advantages connected to my knowledge of the game, positive leadership, and a family mentality for my teammates.
What sets me apart from my peers academically is that I am a self-motivated student with goals to complete a degree in Communications, Marketing, or Business. After my freshman year in college I have a 3.0 and am on track to complete my Associates of Arts degree in May.
Since I was eight years old I knew I wanted to be a baseball player and could see myself involved in the game for the rest of my life. I still do. But as a freshman in high school, I was not as strong as some and was easily overlooked at 5’2” with the face of a twelve year old. Looking back, I’m grateful that nothing was given to me. I earned my play time and made it hard for coaches to keep me out of the lineup by being coachable, positive, and composed while mastering fundamentals. I’m now a 6’4” player, who is still growing, maturing as a pitcher, a strong work ethic, and a hard-earned appreciation for the game.
