My name is Cory Kukkola, and my goal is to play baseball at the collegiate level. I have been playing baseball ever since I was 3 years old and want to keep playing the game I love for as long as I can. I have been a starter on the Fountain Hills Varsity team since my freshman year. I have been the starting shortstop and leadoff hitter for three years now. We went 28-5 and won the state championship for our school my sophomore season. I won the Golden Glove award both my freshman and sophomore year and was named Second Team All-State my sophomore year. This past season, I broke my right wrist during basketball season which made me miss half of the baseball season. it took me a while to get back and recover from it which did hurt my playing performance, but I am grateful that I eventually did and was able to play the second half of the season and got back to playing at my potential. I know in order to win it takes hard work, focus and determination and I believe that I have all of those characteristics and attributes. I have been able to use all of these tools throughout my high school years both on the field and in the classroom. My academics are just as important to me as playing baseball. I have never had a problem with getting good grades as for I am in multiple honors classes and always maintain a great GPA. I have one season left here at Fountain Hills High School and will continue to be working for another state championship. When I am complete with high school, my new goal and focus then will be to win championships for the college team I hope to be playing for and study hard in the classroom. I want to play at a high level of competition because I believe I have the drive, work ethic, and skill set to play at a such a level of competition. I feel I have much to offer a college both athletically, and academically.
