Personal Statement
Hi my name is Ricky Martinez; I play baseball for Tucson Magnet High School. I attend Tucson Magnet High School and am in the class of 2016. I am 6’00” – 160 lbs. I play the outfield; I hit and throw right-handed. My cumulative GPA is a 3.1 but starting off my junior year (2014-2015) I’m holding a 4.0 for the first quarter. My Dad played baseball for Central Arizona College.
I have been playing baseball since the age of 3 and have always had the dream of playing baseball at the collegiate level. I had the opportunity to play with the Tucson Champs Academy from fall of 2012 – January of 2014 at the 15u and 16u levels. Champs are run by former MLB player George Arias. I am athletic and have also played in several competitive soccer programs. I was a part of the Tucson High Magnet School soccer team that went undefeated; and was the 2013-2014 Arizona Division II Soccer State Champions. I am part of an athletic family that has had several people play sports at a collegiate level; including my dad who played baseball with Central Arizona College.
I am open to any college. In addition to hopefully playing for one that that has a competitive baseball program I would be very happy with a college that has a great academic program as well. Although, I am keeping an open mind about colleges, I prefer one on the West Coast since my family is in Arizona.
I love playing the outfield with a passion especially in games that are close and the ball being hit to me could change the outcome of the game -- especially when it comes to throwing somebody out! I am very competitive and am committed to succeeding in every aspect of my life.
Thank you for viewing my profile I hope to hear from you on my abilities as a student athlete.
