My name is Tyler Black and I attend Cienega High School which is located in Tucson, Arizona. I play my club baseball on a team named The Hills. I just finished my Junior season and spent most of the season pitching, catching, and playing first base. My fastball is currently around 84-85 and my best pitch is my change up. I finished the regular season ranked in the top 25 in Arizona Division II in both ERA and Strikeouts and was invited to play in the Southern Arizona Futures All-Star game on May 26th.
I believe the strongest part of my game is hitting. Although I didn't start out my junior season hitting the way I am capable of, I came on strong and hit .400 in the last 15 games of the season helping the team get to the state playoffs. I hit a lot of doubles, using the entire field, and I hit two home runs this season. I also draw a lot of walks.
I play most of my club baseball in Phoenix, AZ and make trips to Southern California to play in tournaments. I believe playing in the highly competitive Southwest has prepared me to play beyond high school.
In school, I maintain a 4.0 weighted GPA while taking Honors classes in English, History, and Geometry. In my remaining year of high school, I intend to complete several Advanced Placement (AP) classes so that I may enter college with college credits. At this time, I have not decided on a Major; however, I am considering either a History or Political Science Major. My intention is to attend a four year college or university and have not ruled out any location or school size.
I look forward to the recruiting process and finding my future college and team!
