Personal Statement

My name is Dylan Newell and I am a 6’3”, 193lb. left handed pitcher attending Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, CA. I will graduate in 2015 and while I have been offered college baseball options for the 2015-16 school year, I am currently uncommitted.

I am very excited for my senior season at Stockdale. After last year’s success, my coaches, competitors and I have high expectations for my performance this year. Along with my athletic ability, I am an excellent student currently with a 4.0 GPA and I am driven to succeed in a competitive college setting.

It is my goal to take everything I learn in high school, on and off the field and apply it to college and beyond. I want to reach the highest competitive level I possibly can. I am dedicated, committed and driven to succeed in whatever I do and believe that with hard work, I can do whatever I put my mind to. I look forward to being an asset to the university I attend both on and off the field.

Member evaluation from the event states - 01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Dylan is a 2015 LHP with an ideal pitcher's frame (6'2",180). His delivery is under control and repeatable and he finishes his pitches off well. He throws slightly across his body which adds to his deception. Dylan has a feel to pitch and is a strike thrower who works ahead of hitters consistently. His FB has slight tail to it while his CB has good 1-7 action with a big 2-plane break. He also turns over a change that has some sink with a similar look out of the hand to his FB. I was one of four students selected to apply to the program from Stockdale. I interviewed and was selected by the council. I completed the program in May 2014.
