Personal Statement

Academic background: I attended Capri Elementary in Encinitas.  I was awarded the Encinitas School District Student of the Year 2010. Being chosen for this designation out of over 5000 students was a true honor. I gave the commencement speech at my schools’ graduation. In Junior High, I was on the Principals List (GPA exceeding 3.5) in all four semesters.  At the end of my freshman year I was admitted to the prestigious LCC Renaissance Club Gold Level, which is limited to members of the highest academic standards of my school. As a sophomore I maintained a 3.86 GPA. As a Junior, I maintained a 4.17 GPA as I enrolled in two AP classes. At the end of the season I was named to the San Diego UT All Academic Team 2015. I take pride in my grades. Both my parents are teachers.
Baseball: I currently play for BPA baseball which is one of the top ranked programs in the nation. I also play for the prestigious San Diego Padres Scout Team under coach John Elliot and scout Josh Emmerick.  Last year I played for 5 Tool Athletics Baseball team where I regularly batted leadoff. I also batted leadoff on my freshman and JV team at La Costa Canyon. I was chosen Offensive Player of the Year 2013 and in 2014 I was offensive captain and batted .430 with only four strikeouts in over 120 at bats. In 2013 I was selected out of only 4 sophomores to play on the La Costa Canyon summer varsity squad and at the end of the season was called up to varsity. During the summer of 2014 I was selected to the try out for the 17U USA SoCal baseball team. I batted .479 in the Perfect Game Super 25 National Championship facing some of the top pitching prospects in the nation. I played for the SoCal Warriors at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic and after a lengthy tryout was selected to participate in the Junior All Academic game. Between 5tool and BPA I have played in numerous college showcases. In the last two Under Armour National Tournaments I have been listed as a "player to watch" and feature player with a scouting write up and article photo. (August 2014 and 2015). In addition, I was also ranked by The Scouting News as a top recruit for 2016 (March, 2015) and was rated in the top 40 OF in state of California for the 2016 class (Perfect Game, June 2015). I have this profile on NCSA and can be followed on fieldlevel as well. This past spring I played on the high school varsity team which is one of the top ranked teams in the state (calhisports 2015 ranked #5) as the starting DH. Our team made the San Diego CIF finals where I started and went 1-3 with a single and stolen base. In the 2015  playoffs I batted .429 against some of the top ranked high school pitchers in the state (3 D1 college commits and one drafted 3rd round 2015). I have confidence that I can continue to hit at this level against any level of competition. This fall and winter I will be attending many showcases (both independent and college) including Perfect Game Upperclass California World Series, the UCSD team showcase, and numerous Padres scout games. I would love to have the opportunity to show you my abilities.
Personal information: I bat left-handed and throw right-handed.  My current position is OF. I used to pitch occasionally for both my travel and high school teams but I do not consider pitcher as my primary position. Currently I am 6’0”, 160 pounds. However, I come from a family of late-growers. I come from an athletic family. My father had football scholarship offers, my mother played for UC Riverside in tennis, and my aunt was the San Diego CIF volleyball player of the year and played on scholarship at Saint Mary's. Academically l am a hard working student who gives the best effort in every class. This same thing applies to my life where I know nothing is given to me I must get it for myself through my hard work. This applies to me in baseball because there is always kids who are going to be bigger than me but they won't work as hard as me.
