Personal Statement
My name is Tom Jacobsen. I am a junior at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, California. I want to attend a college with a well-rounded campus environment and a thriving baseball program. I can be an asset to a team due to my commitment, work ethic, leadership, toughness, desire to win and ability to hit, particularly with runners on base. Over the past two years, I have been the co-captain of both my baseball and football teams at MC. Since the 8th grade, I have been voted, by my teammates, the inspirational leader of every team on which I have played. I was the MVP of my JV Baseball team. I am a dedicated student with a track record of solid academic performance.
My baseball experience includes four years of travel ball, high school and summer ball. I love to hit and take batting practice at every opportunity. During my freshman year, I led our league championship team in RBIs and batting average with runners in scoring position and am again one of the leading hitters on the junior varsity. I am currently the starting third baseman on my team but also play short stop and have played in the outfield. In addition to Marin Catholic I have played Bay Area Warriors and Marin Catholic summer league.
Off the field, I donate much of my free time to the community by helping others. I am the oldest of four boys and love spending time with my family. Over the past year, I have spent over 200 hours performing community service in activities that include providing meals for the homeless, building homes for the poor in Costa Rica and coaching youth football. In the summer I work at the Marin Sports Academy sports camps for baseball and football coaching 3rd and 4th graders.
If I am blessed with the opportunity to play baseball at a college, I will not take it for granted and I will dedicate myself to the sport I love and enjoy every moment of it.
