Personal Statement
Hello coach, my name is Collin Nyberg, and I am a RHP for the Live Oak High School varsity team. My current G.P.A is 3.0, and I am in the graduating class of 2018. I am 5'11", and weigh 200 lbs. I am in the junior class at LOHS, and have played two years of varsity baseball, and have excelled in these past two seasons. In my freshman year I struggled with the jump of intensity to a varsity team, and had an ERA of 4.35, and a hitting average of 0.196, but I improved in my sophomore year, obtaining a batting average of 0.348, and an ERA of 3.21.
I found my passion for baseball at an early age when my father first signed me up. He has since been my biggest supporter, and has taught me many valuable things about the game, and about myself. My father is, and always will be a source of inspiration for me. He was offered a spot on a AA team in Minnesota, but unfortunately was injured, and unable to play. He has always taught me to work hard for what I want, for example, When I was 13, I was 245 lbs, with no muscle, and decided I wanted to become fit and worked to gain more muscle, and to be lean. From a very young age, I realized how proficient I was at baseball, and I stuck with it. I first pitched in the minors at age 10, and was featured as the "Best Youth Athlete" in my local paper. From that point on I worked harder on and off the field. I was on the honor roll in both my freshman and sophomore year. During my sophomore year, I was talked about on 103.1, a local radio station, for my performance against Williams, and how I only allowed 3 hits, and got 10 strike-outs. My collegian goal is to be the best student athlete at your school. I have one last thing to ask: Can you see me playing for you?
