Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Matt Smith. I am currently a 16 year old junior at Sequoia High School. I am a starter on the varsity team positioned as a right handed pitcher, third baseman, and a shortstop.

My GPA is a 3.3. I am enrolled in the history IB Program. Academics are the number one focus but baseball is my passion. My goal is to continue excelling in the classroom, on the field, and playing through my college years.

Baseball started for me as a 4 year old playing T-Ball. This lead me to play in several all star games, super bowl teams, District Teams leading to a week long tournament in Cooperstown, New York. Competing in the Golden Arm, I placed 4th out of 1,600 players from around the nation. It was at this time that I knew my love for the game. I have received recognition, multiple awards, and compliments on and off the field over the years.

It has been my dream to play baseball for my high school and college. I am a very hard worker, I make every practice, always prompt, and a team player. Completely dedicated to my academics, my game, my family, and my community.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
