Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Austin Pendergrass, a senior from Taft Union High School. I have started at centerfield on the varsity team since I was a freshman. I am 5 ft. 10 in. and weigh 165 pounds. I strive to be the best baseball player I can possibly be and I am willing to do whatever it takes to improve my skills. In this process, I hope to motivate my teammates to do they best they can as well. I am not afraid to work on my days off because I know that it will pay off in the long run. I am a competitor. I want to be the best player on the field; whether it be my own teammates, or the competition. I want to be the guy that comes to the plate with bases loaded and two outs in the final inning, because I am and always will be, a competitor.
My goal is to attend college and play baseball as well as earn my bachelor’s degree because someday, I am not going to be able to play this amazing game anymore. I want to make the people around better than what they were when they began, and in doing so, I will become the best person I can possibly be, both on and off the field.
