Personal Statement
My name is Joey Soberon and I am 17 years old. I am 6'1" and weigh 200 lbs. I am 1 semester into my junior year at Clayton Valley Charter High School. This year I am taking 4 AP Classes and 1 Honors class. I currently have straight A's, and have an SAT score of 1410/1600.
Academically I did very well my Sophomore year with straight A’s and a 4.33 GPA. That year I took AP European History and Honors Chemistry. My Freshman year I took AP Art History.
As a Sophomore, I was one of the starting pitchers for our varsity team, and I finished with a 6-3 record, 62 innings pitched, with a 2.26 ERA and 40 strike outs. I started 14 games and our team ended with a 15-11 record.
My 2018 summer was packed with baseball and training along with spending quality time with my friends and family. I played for Jon Zuber with the Zoots Baseball Club. In addition to local tournaments, we traveled to Arizona, Oregon, and San Diego to compete. I continued to work with my Pitching Coach, Tom Rosemeyer, at Mike Murphy Baseball, and with my Conditioning Coach, Aaron Thigpen, at Gamespeed. Throughout the summer I developed my velocity and control, playing against some of the best competition the West Coast has to offer.
My goal in High School is to graduate with straight A’s and a scholarship to a school where I can study Pre-medicine or Pre-law and play baseball at the same time.
