Personal Statement

I would like to go to a school where I will have the best opportunity to play ball.  I believe good study and work habits will help me both on the baseball field and in my career. 

I was a catcher from the age of seven through this past high school season.  Due to a growth spurt taking me from 5'11 to 6'5, and after speaking with my coaches and mentors, I have decided to concentrate on learning to pitch.  I have had some limited pitching experience as I was growing up, but because I was an above average catcher and could block and receive the ball well at a young age, I was almost exclusively used as a catcher.  I spent the majority of this school year working on my pitching mechanics and look forward to my senior year.

  • 2017 California Uncommitted Showcase Nov 04, 2017 PG Grade: 9 Daniel Carpenter is a 2018 RHP/ with a 6-6 185 lb. frame from Moreno Valley, CA who attends Martin Luther King. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size and strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a small rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side and utilized lower half well while working to the plate with drop and drive actions. Stays in line with front side and carries momentum through finish well. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball jumped out of hand very well creating heavy downhill tilt through the zone with arm side run in the mid to upper 80's, topped at 88 miles per hour. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a cuveball offering that had 10/5 shape with late depth in the low 70's.
