Hello, my name is Tyler Engquist. I am 6'0" 180 lbs catcher attending Patrick Henry High School, graduating year 2017. I currently play for the California Baseball Academy (CBA) 18U Wave team. While I am a starting catcher, I also play 1st base and outfield.
I enjoy the leadership responsibility of being a catcher and being involved in every play. For the majority of my travelball career I have played on older teams (played up), which made me push myself to succeed at a higher level.
In the classroom I like to challenge myself academically. Each year I continue to push myself by taking more challenging classes than I had the prior year. Playing baseball, especially as catcher, allows me to showcase my knowledge of the game and the mental challenges that come with it. I have proven both by maintaining a 4.00 GPA my Junior year and earning the starting position as catcher in every team I have played on.
At the collegiate level I am looking for a positive learning experience in the classroom, as well as a competitive team which supports one another on and off the field. I am a very coachable player and am always looking and listening for ways to improve myself.
