Personal Statement
For the past 3 years of my high school career I have had the privilege to play for an amazing program. We had great success the first two years, but the most significant year for me personally was my junior year on the varsity team when we finished .500 and did not make the playoffs. My teammates and I had much higher expectations of our season. When the results were less than expected, it showed me how much harder I had to work, and encourage my teammates to work, in order to be successful at higher levels. I've made the commitment to push myself in the off season and further develop my pitching skills and leadership to help my team reach its considerable potential in my Senior year.
On a more personal level, I was raised in a close family environment with many members who played and coached baseball, which helped develop my love of the game. Baseball helped me considerably in my early years when my mother was diagnosed with cancer and passed away after a 2 year battle. It was a pressure release in an otherwise very difficult time. Baseball has taught me how to be humble in success and cope with failure as well as how to work with others toward the common goal of team success. Others would describe me as being a leader, having a good sense of humor, being even tempered and easy to get along with. My goals off the field are to finish High School with a 3.5 gpa and earn a 4 year degree that prepares me for a rewarding career.
