Personal Statement
When people ask me, “what are you plans and dreams for baseball Lalo?” I always tell them “I want to play baseball as long as the game of baseball will let me play”. Yet, if there were any two words I would use to describe myself, they might be “well-rounded.” Not only do I have a passion for baseball, but I also have a special place in my heart for music and the arts... what can I say, my parents are professional thespians! Despite all of my other activities, being a stellar student has always been my number one priority.
Playing college baseball is something I’ve been working toward since I fell in love with the game. As I have striven toward that goal, I have maintained a disciplined rigor in my other pursuits of academics and music. I’ve been an Honors Student since I can remember and I’ve played piano since I was 5 years old, achieving a Level 10 status. I also play guitar. As a catcher I love being a part of every play, being a field general, and controlling the pace of the game.
Attending a college that would allow me to follow all my passions is very important to me. Not only do I want to be somewhere that will challenge me intellectually and academically, I want to be a part of a community, on a team, and at a place where I can reach my full potential. If I am given the privilege of playing collegiate baseball I pledge complete dedication, on the field and in the classroom. If for whatever reason I can’t play baseball forever (which no one can), I’d like to turn my attention to sports medicine, where I may be able to help others achieve their athletic dreams.
