Personal Statement
I fell in love with baseball at the age of five. The more I learn the game the more I love it!
I have been inspired by several relatives who have played or are still playing at the college level or higher. My dream is to play high caliber baseball at the college level and to pursue an education that will prepare me for a viable career. I am looking for a school and a baseball program in which I can grow in knowledge, skill and character.
I am a hard worker on and off the field. I take athletics, academics and my faith seriously. I finished my freshman year with a 4.0 GPA. I was a starter on the JV football, JV basketball and the Varsity baseball teams, and I continued to be active within my community and my church.
In the fall of my freshmen year, I tore 2 ligaments in my thumb and had to have surgery to repair the injury. This was a huge disappointment and an obstacle that helped me to grow emotionally and mentally. Through the process of rehab, I learned the importance of having a routine and following through with it. Spending 8 weeks standing on the sidelines, at practices and games, taught me what being a teammate really is and how important each and every player is to the team. My appreciation for the fans, and respect for the coaches grew immensely. Through this trial, I have learned to appreciate the support of family, teammates and fans, to cherish the dedication of a good coach and most importantly, enjoy the privilege of every moment on the field, in practice and in games.
I am committed to working hard and to doing my part in order to realize my dream of becoming a successful collegiate athlete.
