Personal Statement

Playing baseball has taught me two life skills up to this point. The first thing is how to be a hard worker.  Nobody is good at something the first time they try it, especially baseball.  I loved playing from the first time I stepped onto a diamond, but I wasn’t very good at all.  I had to work hard to improve my skills, because I wanted to be  good but it wasn’t going to happen overnight.  The second thing baseball has taught me is persistence.  Something I’ve heard all throughout my career is, “great baseball players in the major leagues are failing seven out of ten times they go to bat.”  Most people hear that and don’t realize how hard it is to fail that often and still keep a positive attitude.  That’s where persistence comes to into play.  To succeed in baseball, you have to persist through all the slumps and losing streaks that are bound to happen.

One of my main goals in life is to further my baseball career to the next level, and right now the next level is playing in college.  I have worked hard and persisted to keep playing baseball up to this point in my life, and I plan to keep doing that and see how far baseball can take me.  Baseball isn’t the only aspect of my life where I’ve used these skills.  Good grades are an important thing to have. Whether you are applying for a job, or applying for college, grades will dictate a large part of your future, and that’s why I work hard to maintain them.  I have what it takes to continue playing baseball in college, and I won’t stop working at it once I get there.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
