My name is Austin Kapela, and I am a junior at Sussex Technical High School. I have been playing baseball since I was six years old, and began playing travel ball at the age of eight. To help reach my goal to play at the collegiate level, I have shown both dedication and determination by strength training, speed and agility, as well as on going private lessons for pitching, fielding and hitting. I was awarded most outstanding pitcher for the 2016 high school season. I’m currently playing travel ball with the Evoshield Canes North team.
As well as challenging myself on the field, I am continuously challenging myself in the classroom. I understand the importance of being a student first and an athlete second. I currently have a 3.7 GPA and was recognized for being the top 5 academically on my high school team. I am a former member of the JROTC, which helped mold characteristics such as leadership, discipline and determination. I believe I have learned the value of commitment and teamwork through my years of being a multi-sport athlete. I have played football, basketball and track. Now I’m putting my complete focus on academics and baseball to prepare myself for college. With my faith, passion and knowledge of the game, I believe I have what it takes to be a leader and to successfully play at the next level.
