Personal Statement
Determined. Resilient. Hardworking.
These are three words I would use to describe myself. While I have played sports most of my life, my academics have always taken precedence. I am currently a member of the National Honor Society and have a 3.8 GPA non-weighted and a 4.2 GPA weighted. I am enrolled in Honors, AP and Dual enrollment classes. I also served as the vice President of my HOSA Club at Appoquinimink High School. I plan to pursue a degree in nursing in college.
I have enjoyed playing the game of baseball since the age of six. It has taught me many life lessons and helped me overcome a major obstacle in my life. IN the spring before my freshman year, I was diagnosed with leukemia. I went through seven months of chemotherapy followed by total body radiation and a bone marrow transplant in December 2014. I used what I learned in baseball to help me fight this disease. Baseball is a game of failure and to succeed players need to stay positive and keep pushing forward and working hard. I am currently in remission and I have been working very hard with my high school and travel ball coaches, outside baseball/pitching instructors and strength and conditioning trainers. Over the past two years, I have been playing with both my high school and the Delaware Diamonds travel ball teams showing constant improvement in my baseball skills and speed and strength. I am committed to play college baseball and look forward to demonstrating my continued progress in the upcoming months.
