Personal Statement
I am a starting right-handed pitcher on my school varsity team and I have been playing the sport since I could pick up a baseball; it has long been an integral part of my life. Nearly every practice, I am the first to arrive and the last to leave, always looking for ways to better myself as a player and to improve my athleticism. In addition to being an extremely strong pitcher and hitter, I contribute an unparalleled work ethic in all I do, from the ballpark to my classwork. As a student, I am very academically curious, always looking to learn new things. In the future, I plan on attending medical school and becoming a physician, but my interests go far beyond science. I am very passionate about writing, both in a creative and analytical context. I love expanding my academics outside the classroom, as shown by my involvement with academic clubs; I am on the It's Academic TV team (a jeopardy-like game show for high schools in my area) and on the National Science Bowl team (which competes in the Department of Energy National Science Bowl every year); I also am the head of the Outdoor Club. I believe that I am fully capable of excellence both as a student, as well as an athlete.
