Andrew Maurer '15 Recruiting Profile

~~Coach: My name is Andrew Maurer and I am a middle infielder in the 2015 graduating class for Estero High School in South West Florida. I am 16 years old, currently 5’10 and weigh 165 pounds. I am the starting shortstop for the varsity baseball team at Estero High School and starting shortstop and second baseman for my summer travel team (Team IMPACT 18U). My high school team had a great season in 2014; we went 20-9 and lost in the 6A Regional Semi Finals for Florida.  My junior season was challenging; I started the season out at third base after playing my entire sophomore year at second and winning the gold glove award.  Midway through the season my coach decided to move me to SS where I finished the season and for the second straight year I received the Golden Glove Award.  I am very comfortable playing either third, SS or second.

I am spending this summer working out with my personal trainer to improve my strength and speed, I am also doing yoga to improve my flexibility and working to earn money for college.  I am also playing in several tournaments and will also be spending time doing college showcases around Florida.  I am taking a few weeks off from playing baseball and during that time I will be working as a coach at a baseball camp for younger kids which I really enjoyed.

I am very interested in playing baseball in college.  I have worked very hard at baseball and in my classes too.  I currently have a 3.74 GPA and will be taking three AICE classes (college accredited) this school year.  I have also begun preparing for the SAT and ACT which I will take in September. I am very interested in this school and your baseball program. I would like to see if we can talk more about your recruiting process, or if we can schedule a visit.
