Personal Statement

Hello, I am Andrew Apugliese. I am a senior this year at Lincoln Park Academy. The most important thing in my life is baseball. My life revolves around the sport, and I live, breath, and sweat baseball. I love learning about the game, and the only television I ever watch is college or professional baseball.  In my spare time, I find myself reading passages about new baseball statistics or watching instructional videos. My obsession and passion is baseball. There is nothing more I want to do in my life than play college baseball. Baseball has been my sanctuary since I can remember and I love competing on the diamond. There is nothing better than being on the mound on a warm summer day and absolutely making the other team’s hitters look foolish.
When you walk into my bedroom, there are two major things you notice. First, you see all my baseball memorabilia. It consists of prized signed baseballs from my idols. It also is my numerous championship trophies and special awards I have received over my baseball career. Next, you will notice all Student of the Year awards I have received from being a student at Lincoln Park. I am very proud of my academics as well as athletics. I work hard in the classroom and stay on top of school and sports. I have successfully been a student athlete my whole life, because my parents instilled the fact that I couldn’t play sports if my grades were bad. I have a perfect 4.0 GPA and it has been tough to achieve that. There are some nights when I had away games and would get home and 2 A.M. in the morning and would have to stay up all night studying.
I consider myself to be a well-rounded person. In my spare time, I am always volunteering, fishing, or relaxing with family and friends. I have helped coach numerous baseball and basketball teams all over recreation parks near my house. I love instilling my passion and hard work in young children, and love helping others become successful. I work hard in everything I do. I am a starter on the varsity basketball team due to the fact I outhustle everyone else on the court. When I see a shot in the air, I always box someone out to help my team get the rebound. I am a very healthy person. I eat nutritious food that will provide my body the energy I need. My favorite quote is "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." I am searching for the right college that will invest in me. I know how serious recruiting is, and I am not here to play games. I push myself to succeed and surpass any goals someone sets for me. I know I can help any program become more successful and no obstacle will stop me on the way.
