Personal Statement
The main thing I'd like coaches to know about me is that my goal is to play college baseball and I am willing to do whatever is necessary to achieve this goal. Its important that coaches know up front that I suffered a torn UCL June of 2014. I was lucky enough to have Doctor James Andrews himself perform my Tommy John surgery in July 2014 and my rehabilitation was completed under a head trainer at a university. I was extra cautious in my rehab and did not throw from a mound until a year after surgery. To date I have only thrown at 90% effort and I am currently 14 months post surgery. My throwing program was done with my HS pitching coach and former AAA pitcher who also had Tommy John during his playing days. Overall I can say I am stronger, more flexible and definitely more conscious of my body and being physically fit for competition.
Academics definitely matters to me as well. I am currently enrolled in a Technorobotics academy and the field of engineering is a big interest of mine. I am a good candidate for a team because I am a solid teammate. I accept whatever role I am given by the coaches and do my best at it. I know one person never makes a team, and I respect the importance of everyone who wears the same uniform I do. I am different from other recruits because nobody outworks me. I like to be told what I can't do because it gives me goals to works towards and I usually prove people wrong. I play golf as well as baseball and I had a goal of making it to the state championships. A lot of people didn't think I would make it, but that's exactly what I did in 2014. I don't show to much emotion when I play sports, but I do play them with a ton of intensity. Academically I take care of my business and do more than is needed. I have a solid academic record, I push myself in the classroom and I enjoy learning. I take honors classes and even started college courses during my sophomore year. Overall I am the player who shows up early, leaves late, raises the team's gpa, always has his teammates back and owns the dirtiest uniform on the field everyday.
