I've had to overcome a lot of things in my life. People have always pre-judged me for being smaller than most of the other players. I have had to work twice as hard as everyone else to earn my spot. My dad has taught me to strive to be great at everything I do, and this work ethic has allowed me to be very successful as a ball player and in life. My next goal is to play baseball at the colligate level and to get my college degree. I put a lot of thought into my career; I believe a healthcare profession would be a great fit for me because I really enjoy helping other people. Knowing I need to be a better student I have improved my study habits so that I am better prepared for college. My grades over the last couple of years have improved quite a bit and I plan on graduating with a GPA greater than 3.0 and think I am ready for the next step.
As for my baseball career, I have always faced the top competition in the southeastern United States, and have had great success at both the showcase and high school levels. This year, as a junior in high school, I was the teams top arm. I always faced the week's best match ups against the best teams. My final spring high school stats were:
53 innings pitched, Era 1.77, 1.17 WHIP, 39K, 7 complete games and 5 shutouts, 6-2 record.
I pitched this summer for the Orlando Scorpions North, where I had a very strong summer dominating very talented teams. I currently throw five pitches with control: 2 seam fastball, 4 seam fastball, modified change-up, curveball, and a slider. My fastball sits at 85-86 mph and will reach up to 87-88 mph. I also play all three outfield positions, bat from the left side of the plate, and I am very quick. I finished with a .388 batting average over 47 at bats. My coaches even changed my nickname from "bulldog" to "turbo".
I believe that if I work harder than everyone, keep a great attitude and be smart, I can achieve anything.
