My name is Jamil Dickey. I am a James S. Rickards high school academic baseball player, graduating class of 2018. I currently have a 3.0 GPA and scored an 1120 out of 1600 on my SATs. I am an infielder/outfielder on my school and senior major league team. My primary position is 2nd base and I have been a starter since 2015. Baseball has been my passion ever since my first tee ball game at the age of 7. However, I feel I grew the most as a student-athlete my junior year when our team didn't make the state tournament. That experience helped me grow as a person and lead me to re-focus my own efforts on becoming a solid baseball player capable of playing at the college level and some day professionally.
My goal is to explore a business major that will position me well for my future career in the sports industry. On the field, I plan to be a dynamic player and positive influence on the team. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college baseball career, I will strive to be an asset to the rotation, infield and batting lineup. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches and the school I attend.
I’m thankful to God for everything that I am and for blessing me with so much talent. I am thankful for my family, friends, relatives & coaches who have stood by me in good and trying times. I learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership without a trophy. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
