I am 5’11”, 165lb, LHP/OF playing for Southern Poly Tech Institute (SPSU) in Marietta, GA during Spring 2014. However, the Georgia Board of Regents notified SPSU in early November that they were merging SPSU into Kennesaw State University in 2015. The Athletic Program at SPSU will be discontinued as of June 2014. SPSU has granted me permission to speak with other schools for the 2015 season (release is attached in my NCSA profile). Also, per the NCAA, I am eligible for a one time transfer exception and can immediately play for another school without sitting out a year given the "discontinued/nonsponsored sports exception rule." I have a desire to immediately contribute to a successful college program.
Academically I have a 4.0 in college (first semester SPSU and through mid terms 2nd semester). My major is New Media Arts and I do freelance art work for people on the side. My high school grade point average was ~ 4.5 with 36 college credits completed.
With baseball, I am a weekend starter for SPSU as a freshman and all of my stats are available on-line through spsuhornets.com. SPSU is 17th in the country with NAIA. This fall at college my fastball ranged from 86-90 mph with 91 mph being touched multiple times. My other pitches include a curve, slider, and change up. I have only been pitching for 3 years and continue to develop. In terms of the outfield, my 60 yard dash time is 6.9.
Personally, I enjoy art, photography, surfing, and going on mission trips. Some of my artwork can be viewed at www.michaelmaiocco.com. I look forward to the opportunity to learn and excel under great coaching and use the gifts God has given me even more. I have a strong work ethic with physical training and am an encourager with my teammates while striving to create unity with the team.
