The Complexity of the Game: A Pitcher's Point of View
Baseball constitutes an integral part of my personal and athletic makeup. I consider baseball an essential component of my life, for it gives my own identity some unique definition beyond the student attending class and earning high academic marks. The trying nature of the game of baseball seems to embody the very essence of who I am, a hardworking individual always striving for excellence in all my endeavors. Athletically speaking, baseball is far more than a way to stay physically active. Baseball is just as psychologically invigorating as it is physically demanding, so the very concept of hurling a baseball from twenty-four inches of white rubber to a batter while having to decide what, where, and how to pitch does seem to epitomize the mental and physical aspects of the game. The very aspects I live for as I jog out to take the mound.
