Personal Statement
My college aspirations are to be the best athlete I can be, to represent the college in the best way possible both on and off the field and to be the best academically I can be.
I feel that what sets me a part from other players is my willingness to go above and beyond what is expected of me. I have been told by several of my coaches that I am a joy to coach because of my passion for the game, my professional attitude, and my drive to become the best. I have also been told I have a huge heart.
I do struggle with my academics but I am doing everything possible to improve my grades with help from my teachers. I have and am willing to go before/after school for tutoring and do extra credit work whenever possible. I am working on taking AP classes which at one time would not have even been possible. In my Technical Engineering class, I have been recognized by my projects and last year, my Engineering teacher recommended that I continue in the program for the duration of that program. I also am very passionate about FCA- Fellowship of Christian Athletes-which is a club offered at my high school. I am currently in a leadership position. It focuses on holding students to a higher standard in their daily lives via interaction and communication with others and overall motivating others to live a respectable, ethical, and morally responsible life.
My goal with my athletics is to continue growing taller than my current 6'4" frame (doctors say my growth bone is capable of making me around 6'5" to 6'7"), pitching my fast ball over 95 MPH (my last radar clock was 85), running my 60 in 6.5 seconds or better (my last 60 documented was 72) and having an ERA below 1.00.
I will always remember my mother telling me to pray for humility. I remember asking her what it was and she said to me "Don't worry about it, just pray for it." Now that I know what it is, I do my best to be humble. I would describe myself as a quiet confidant person that knows exactly where the line that crosses over to arrogance is located. I am low key, even-tempered yet competitive. I feel myself improving in every aspect of my life everyday.
