Personal Statement
Coaches,
Thank you for viewing my profile on NCSA. My name is Richard Higa, and I am a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii.
Whether it is in the classroom or on the baseball field, I will always work my hardest and never give up. My determination and drive to become better every day has helped me become the student and baseball player I am today. My goal in college is to of course have an opportunity to play baseball, but also to go through an excellent business program that will put me on a great career path. If I am given the chance to play baseball at the next level, I know that I will make the most of my opportunities and I will continue to strive for the highest.
Baseball has helped shape the person I am and how I have grown immensely. It taught me perseverance, hard work, and to never give up. Getting cut from the baseball team in 7th grade was a turning point in my life and baseball career. I was determined to work as hard as I could and I wanted to become the best player I could. That lead to many things: A starting spot on the junior varsity team in 9th grade, junior varsity team captain and varsity call-up in 10th grade, a starting spot on varsity in 11th grade, and also an all-conference selection. Without failure, I would not be the player I am today, and I hope to continue my growth both physically and mentally in baseball.
Thank you and best wishes,
Richard Higa
