Personal Statement
Aloha!
I am a member of the 2016 graduating class. I am a RHP/C and eager to continue my academic and baseball future by finding the best college baseball program that would be most beneficial to both myself and the team. I am hoping to find a college program that will allow me to earn a spot on their roster as well as equip me with the tools needed in order for me to succeed at the sport I fell in love with since I was a boy. As a maturing baseball player I am not afraid to work hard and I hope to get the opportunity to put my talents up against the best players and programs in the nation to prepare me for the next level of baseball. The challenges and struggles of college ball is what I long for to help me learn from my mistakes and become the best player I can be. My love and passion for the game began from the first moment my fingers grasp a baseball, my heart is pumping, my muscles aching and I'm always ready to play. Leadership, humility and respect is what I bring to the field and has been contagious throughout my career. My high school baseball journey has been somewhat of a bumpy ride. I've always managed to dust myself off, regroup, and refocus. My freshman year started strong as I was primarily a right handed pitcher hitting 88mph on average. My sophomore year I was told by my orthopedic dr. that I wouldn't throw a baseball again due to a tear in my right elbow tendon. After getting a second opinion and opting to not get surgery, I rested for a year and got stronger mentally and physically. My junior year I changed schools and learned to fight for a place on a team that placed second in the state. I found a place here, and will finally get the chance to catch this year. It's my senior year and from the beginning of my high school journey, I've always wanted a shot at catching and was always overlooked because of my pitching ability. I've always put my personal desires on the back burner for the sake of my team, who always needed a pitcher. I am currently one of the team captains on this year's varsity team and I'm so proud to be playing in my community again.
