Personal Statement
Growing up, I had an interest in just about any sport there was. At a young age that all changed for me when I attended my older cousins high school baseball game. I was mesmerized and knew, this was the sport I wanted to pursue. This was a big influential moment in my life knowing that I was going to have to work hard to reach my goals. Academically, I have always struggled and have needed to get help from tutors and academic professionals as I worked my way through Junior High and High School. Each year I have successfully raised my GPA. I continue to persevere and work to reach my academic goals. I’m determined to graduate college with a degree that I’m passionate about and that fits me.
My parents have always been my biggest supporters. Helping me find programs to improve my skills and build confidence in my game. I attended a program called Idaho Cubs, this is a program that helps student athletes improve their skills helping them to reach their full potential and compete at higher levels. I completed two years in the fall season and regularly attended winter workouts. Along with the Idaho Cubs program, I have been seeing the same private hitting coach for about seven years now. Jeff Mace is one of my biggest influences. He has taught me the importance of working hard and staying mentally strong within the game of baseball. As I grow mentally and physically throughout my baseball career the game continues to teach me the importance of working as a team, keeping a strong work ethic, dealing with pressure, and working with both success and failure. Working with failure in baseball can be frustrating but I’ve learned to overcome this by taking the positives out of the situation. Being able to positively deal with a situation has helped me learn from my past and push me into the future. I know I have what it takes to be apart of a college team. Knowing the way I carry myself on and off the field reflects my team, my coaches and the school I will attend.
