Personal Statement
I started playing on a baseball team when I was five years old. As I grew up, I knew I wanted to play college baseball or even go further if I had the opportunity. Ever since I have been able to pick up a ball, I knew I wanted to be a pitcher on a team. As I entered Jr. High and played more baseball, I knew I wanted to be a pitcher on college baseball team. My high school years have confirmed that even more.
I have dedicated a lot of my life to practice and training to be the best pitcher I can be. This year, this dedication helped me get a spot pitching and/or playing in the outfield on the Varsity team as a sophomore, and pitch for the Southern Illinois Bullets. Furthermore, part of that dedication is being dedicated as a team player. No matter where my coaches put me at on the baseball field, I give it my all. In addition, I cooperate well with my teammates on and off the field. Part of cooperating is lifting a teammate's spirits up when they are down or praising them for doing a good job. Cooperating with others is very important for a baseball team as well as having a good attitude. Having a good attitude helps me on and off the baseball field. By having a good attitude about the game, I am able to display good sportsmanship. I feel being a good sport is very important. Many of my peers and parents of the community are watching me on and off the field, and I need to set a good example.
All these qualities I have mentioned is what has also helped me be a successful student in school. Academics are another important part of my life. Believe me, my mom is a school teacher which has been a blessing because it has encouraged me to be a good student.
I will be a junior in high school this year, and I am looking forward to baseball season.Every day I work out by working on my core and running. Also, I train with a pitching coach once a week on a regular basis. This will help me keep improving as a baseball player, and I will continue to work hard at improving my game.
I believe I would be a great asset to a college baseball team because of all the qualities that I have mentioned above. I think these qualities and my love for the game will lead me to be a successful baseball player.
