Personal Statement
My name is Michael Borst but most people call me Mikie. I am 17 years old, 6 ft. 3 in., weigh 195 pounds, and run a 6.85 in the sixty-yard dash. I have a cumulative GPA of 4.20, and currently rank 22/384 in my junior class. I plan on pursuing a college degree in nursing.
I started on varsity as a junior playing left field and first base, I also pitched a little for McHenry Community High School. This year I set the record at my high school for most all time at bats in one season with 129. I was named 'Player of the Week' for McHenry County, IL, on 4/22/14. During that week, my team went 4-1, and I was 10-16, with 3 doubles. Also, I was named to the 2014 Northwest Herald All-Area first team, being one of only two juniors.
I have been playing travel baseball for the past seven years and before that I played for four years on an in-house team and a tournament team. Baseball is my life and I love playing it. I now play travel ball for the Pro Player Canes, McHenry, IL. I am a very hard worker and always strive to push myself not only to be a better athlete but also a student. I give 110% to anything I do, regardless if it is a practice, a game, or a drill. I am coachable and a great listener. I handle pressure very well and want to be in game situations where I can show this. I can thank my parents for pushing me as student and an athlete since the day I entered school and walked out onto a baseball field. I have always wanted to play college baseball. I want to show everybody I have what it takes to play at the collegiate level. I breathe and live for baseball, it's my passion.
To play at the collegiate level, I know I have to continually push myself. I will continue to raise the bar higher and higher for myself. This will help me achieve my goal and live my dream of playing college baseball. I want to make an impact on my team and any future team that I am selected for, no matter where my baseball journey takes me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement.
