Timothy (TJ) Constertina '18 Recruiting Profile

Baseball is my passion. I am extremely focused and a great team leader. It is my commitment to play baseball at the college level and contribute generously to a team while focusing on my education. I was selected as the captain of my varsity team due to my leadership, knowledge of the game and team-first approach. My HS team went 29-5-1 and won our regional. Team success is always what is most important to me.

My pitching separates me from others, not because I am the biggest on the mound, but because of my command and pitch selection. My command allows me to throw my breaking pitches for a strike, and I often use them in the first pitch of an at-bat. I am often told that batters are never able to get comfortable when I am pitching. My breaking ball is my strength -- it has a huge arc and it is rarely hit squarely. I also make sure that I don't hurt myself through limiting walks and HBPs. I led my varsity team in both ERA and WHIP,  1.235 and 1.029 respectively.

I can also be used as a middle infielder. My strength there is my precision and accuracy -- my fielding percentage always comes in above .950.  

I am a late bloomer and grew from 5'5" to 6' over the past two years. My weight is 160 and I have a lot of growing yet to do in that respect which will help my upside. My current focus is on improving my velocity through a weighted ball program. The results of my years playing high-level travel and high school ball have benefited both my teams and me. You will find me to be a smart, dedicated and committed player who is always looking to improve his game. My extensive off-season training each year allows me to step onto the mound fully equipped. I am a "gamer" in every sense of the word and I am committed to succeeding in college ball.
