Personal Statement
The highlight of my high school baseball career happened my junior year while pitching for Argenta-Oreana and winning the Regional Championship for the area. It was validating for me to accomplish this for myself and be rewarded for the many hours I had devoted to developing my pitching strategy. Senior year was the biggest challenge of my baseball career since I moved towns and had to learn to play with new team members, coaching staff, and signals. I had to practice harder than I would anticipate my senior year to prove my worth, show my work ethic, and illustrate my skills in order to earn a starting spot on the pitching mound. Adapting and overcoming obstacles has shaped me as a diverse individual and someone who can handle change well. My high school athletic career has prepared me to be a capable collegiate athlete.
Although my athletic experiences have not all been huge wins, I feel that I am a more competent, realistic athlete who can find a “win” without a trophy. Understanding how to focus on one’s strengths and constantly working to improve one’s weaknesses is important to the success of a team. I have the charisma to uplift a team and the dedication to devote myself to a college program. I am in search of a college program that will continue to develop my pitching and hitting capabilities as well as support me academically. With my diverse athletic background and adaptability I know I have the talent to enhance any college baseball program and will work to be a valuable player for the team.
