Personal Statement

Dear Coach ,

            My name is Eric Petruzzi. I am a 2014 graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit High school in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am a 5’11”, 180 lbs. Outfielder/RHP.

            I was born and raised in Carmel, Indiana, where winter is a bear to practice because of the snow and cold. I realized that I love the teams in the south because of the warmth. However, the  East Coast and Midwest are great places to play as well.  I don’t know much about colleges in the west, but I know they are very prestigious and would love the opportunity to visit them.

As far as baseball goes, I love the game. I used to wake up at 7am when I was a young kid, roll out of bed and have my uniform on and was ready for a 5pm game. I started playing in Left Field as a freshman at Brebeuf and ended my freshman year batting .417. As a sophomore, our team was the best of the best. I shattered hitting records at Brebeuf as our team made it to the State championship game against Western. Unfortunately, we lost, but it was one hell of an experience. My junior year my coach asked me to be the “captain” and lead the team with my attitude, work ethics and enthusiasm for the game. I moved to Center Field after my Sophomore year.   I also played on many great club teams including the Indiana Bulls and Pony Express for summer ball. This past fall, I got a phone call saying I was invited to the Under Amour (Team One) tournament in Florida with the baseball factory.  Team One had 12 players from eleven different states, as we were professionally scouted. I received a class four rating after the tournament, which means I am grouped in the Division 1 baseball player’s classes. I finished with a 3.0 GPA this semester and scored an overall 1430 on my SAT. I am very interested in studying Business and Education.

  • I went 5-11 at the plate with two doubles and three singles. I went 3-3 on stolen bases. I also threw three innings with no earned runs allowed. 09/18/2013 - Under Armour Fall Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One. Eric is a strong 2014 OF that has good actions. He has good athleticism and body control and is an instinctive/aggressive baserunner. He took good angles to balls and threw with flashes of life. Offensively, he showed pop off the bat and picked up pitches early. He showed good feel for the game with intensity and purpose. Eric jumped on the bump and competed throwing strikes and changing speeds with some presence and pitchability. In all - Eric is a projectable player that will make a difference at the next level. The Baseball Factory scouting department has recognized you as one of the best players in the nation. Your selection was based on the scouting report of your performance at the Under Armour Fall Classic provided by Coach Talmadge Nunnari, former GM of the Pensacola Pelicans of the Independent League and former coach at Jacksonville University. Coach Nunnari saw several Division-1 caliber tools throughout your tournament performance. Based on your selection, we are inviting you to attend the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament in Tucson, Arizona from January 17-19, 2014. You will represent your region and battle against other top players from across the country.
