Alexander Weakland '18 Recruiting Profile

    When I step on the mound, the world around me goes silent and there are only three people that exist to me: the batter, the catcher, and myself. I separate all stress and anxiety from work outside of baseball and leave it off the field, allowing me to focus on the task at hand. My life has been dedicated to improving not only myself, but my relationship with my teammates. From the moment i first stepped on the mound at age 10 and threw my first strike, I have known what my true passion is.

    Baseball has shaped who I am. My coaches and the work I have put in have made me a strong, respectful, and smart individual on and off the field. While I may not have always been talented player, coaches have revered my work ethic and passion for the sport. I take pride in being considered the first one of the field, and the last one off. The work I have done in the past years makes me believe I can be a top recruit for any college.

    Off the field, I spend my time working hard in school, volunteering for my community, and playing and studying music with my friends and older brother. I have helped in many food drives, food banks, and baseball camps for younger kids. At school I work tirelessly to maintain good grades and great friendships. I am an avid guitar and piano player, playing both by myself and with friends for a live audience. My studying of music theory has broadened my horizons and led me to meet many new, wonderful people. 

    I have the skill and the dedication to take this sport as far as my body allows me. I want to not only have a superb record with baseball, but I want to have an interesting and challenging career to fall back on because like all sports, baseball eventually ends. Everyday I have asked myself, "Do I want to be good, or do I want to be great?"
