Personal Statement for Nicholas "Nick" Barrett
/ I am a strong academic student and an all conference, two sport athlete with aspirations of going to a strong academic and athletic school to play baseball. Once there, I'll study general studies until I can decide on a potential career with corresponding major. I am from an athletic family. I have two brothers, Koby 26, who played college football and baseball and played for the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He is currently a Strength and Condition Coach for football at Georgia State University. My second brother Ethan 19, is a sophomore at Depauw University where he plays defensive end. My sister, Alex 9, is a fierce softball and basketball player. My father and three uncles all played college football and currently coach high school football.
Over the course of my successful high school career, I've been apart of one semi state football championship and two state baseball championships. I plan to continue this success into my Senior year of sports and academics by understandung what and how my past has taught me; that success only comes from commitment, hard work, sacrifice and leadership. Leadership, not only on the field but in the classroom, social settings and at home. Then applying those interpersonal attributes into the team. Teams need leaders to succeed and teams are comprised of individual commitments to the entirety of the groups effort which equals teamwork.
I feel my academic and athletic abilities combined with my leadership skills really set me apart from other center fielders of my age group. I know how to manage my time for academics, athletics and social interaction for continued success for me and the university that I decide to attend.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Nick Barrett
