Personal Statement
Overview: I am a committed student-athlete, working hard both in the classroom and on my athletic pursuits. I have attained a 3.48 GPA while playing both basketball and baseball.
Goals: My academic goal is to raise my GPA above a 3.5 and maintain it at or above that level. My athletic goal is to play major college baseball at the highest level my ability will allow.
Physical/Training: I have been engaged in a personalized training program for the past 2 years and have added 65 lbs of muscle, 5+ inches of height and c. 9 mph to my fastball. Based on my diet, exercise and family history, I anticipate adding another 50-60 lbs, 1-2 inches, and 6-8 mph to my fastball in the next 2-3 years.
Baseball: I throw a 2 seam fastball, curve, and change-up. I am developing a slider as a "put away" pitch. The 2 seam has good late movement. I have very clean mechanics, especially for a tall guy. I work ahead in the count and don't walk many batters. Despite my focus on pitching at the collegiate level, I am committed to my hitting, fielding and baserunning in order to be a complete player. I believe my coaches and teammates would describe me as a positive, energetic and vocal part of the team.
