I fell in love with this game because it’s a mental battle and no other sport compares to it mentally. I think how the game is played makes it a very challenging game to succeed in and I’m all about going against the odds. This game has taught me many things not just on the field but also off the field. It’s taught me how to be in better place mentally and how to mature as a person. It’s also taught me that you aren’t going to succeed all the time and it’s about how you react to failure. Some unique tools I think I bring to the table are IQ and leadership. I don’t have any outstanding numbers or crazy abilities but I work with what I do have and work everyday to better them. I came into my first varsity season as a bench player, then I got my first opportunity and showed what I could bring to the team. I never sat an inning after that. I think that was a big obstacle I had to over come was knowing I could help the team but doing my role at the same time which was being a bench player, but when I got my opportunity I shined. One thing I have noticed that does set me out from other kids is not dealing in to pressure. I never really feel pressure, I just get this extra motivation and I seem to thrive in pressure moments. Just as important, some of my academic goals for college is to major in criminal justice and get my degree in that. I have a huge love and passion for the game and can’t wait to see where it will take me!
