Personal Statement
Sports have always been a part of my life. I have played many different sports including baseball, soccer, basketball, and running cross country; however, baseball is my passion. My parents played sports growing up and my mom coached me in several of the sports I have played over the years and her drive both academically and on the field pushed me to be a better student athlete. My academics will always be a priority as I know how important that is in my future endeavors. My goal each semester is to strive to hit as close to a 4.0 as I can obtain. I am also a member of the National Honor Society and work to give back to the community through volunteering when I am able to do so.
My talent on and off the field has not been without its struggles. While academically, I have always had a strong foundation, my physical health has not always been so successful. Going into my freshman year, weight was an issue and through the encouragement of my parents and my weights instructor, I worked hard to improve my skills physically by pushing myself to become a fit individual. This experience has taught me that you get back what you put into all things in life. Life is work. I have also always been open to learning new things and have learned that being flexible is just as important in life. The willingness to change is key to success.
My studies in college, I am looking at athletic training and/or physical therapy. Teaching physical education is not outside of the possibility either. I would also like to look at coaching in the future as well. Getting the opportunity to play baseball while completing my studies is one of my goals but making sure the school is a good fit for me academically is the most crucial aspect of where I ultimately attend college.
Finally, team work is a key in all aspects of life. Whether inside or outside the classroom, the ability to work as a team and win or lose as a team is important. Continuing to encourage others and lift them up as we go through life is one of the most rewarding things we do in life. My faith in God helps me to be a better person and to continue to strive to be there for my teammates, family, and friends when they need me.
