Since currently I am a sophomore in high school I want to make sure I look at a wide range of college path options so when that time comes I make sure to match my abilities and future plans to the right school. At this time I am planning to pursue a degree in business. I also have an interest in Criminal Justice. Given that, I am interested in possibly combining those interests with a degree containing the appropriate majors.
I believe I have several traits that would make me a good candidate for a college team. I always give 100% in what I do. With regard to baseball I have a serious desire to improve in all aspects of my participation in the game, hitting, defensively and working with team mates to be the most productive team player possible. I learn quickly and am a very coachable person. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to learn from anyone who can help me improve any aspect of my game.
With regard to academics, my grades and future career is very important to me. With school as in baseball I enjoy learning how to improve my abilities. At first I had a few difficulties adapting to the increased pace in high school over junior high and my GPA suffered a bit as a freshman but as a sophomore I feel I have adapted well and my grades have improved a lot. I am confident that my grade level will be good this year and continue to improve over the next two years and at graduation I will have a high school career I will be proud of.
What I think would set me apart from other potential college recruits at this point is attitude. I am a humble person, very coachable and am very appreciative of any opportunity given to me to learn and improve my skills, baseball and other skills included. For a player 15 years old I have good ability to stay calm in pressure situations which helps me stay focused and perform well in big situations.
As an athlete I have good speed, good bat speed and a good ability as an outfielder. As a freshman I had the opportunity to start on the varsity team at Sergeant Bluff Luton High School. This past year we played in and got to the semifinals at the state tournament. As I started in and played every game all through the playoffs and the tournament I got a good chance to see a high level of high school baseball at a young age. Given that opportunity I was able to really learn how much competition is out there. That was a big motivator for me to start pursuing the possibility of college baseball early with the hopes of getting good guidance from coaches at that level now so I have 3 more years to develop the skills necessary to successfully compete at that level.
