Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Justin Doyle, and I play baseball at Mead High School in Spokane, Washington. This upcoming year, I will be a senior.  Baseball has been a passion of mine since the age of 5 or 6, and ever since then, I have strived to work hard and compete to the best of my ability. My goal ever since I began playing competitive baseball was to play at the highest level possible, and to do that, I have been working day in and day out to improve my skills and improve my character. Through playing baseball, I have realized that I have a very strong work ethic, and I am willing to be challenged whether on the field, in the classroom, or in life.

School is a very important aspect of my life, and I plan on getting the most out of my education through high school and into college. During my first three years of high school, I have taken 9 AP courses and maintained a 4.37 GPA. Additionally, I earned a composite score of 34 on the ACT. Once out of high school, I want to pursue either the field of business/management, or to work towards being an engineer. Math and science have been my academic passion ever since elementary school and I want to take the highest possible courses available in order to prepare me for my aspirations.

One of the biggest challenges I've faced in life is the fact that I've moved eight times in the past 14 years. I haven't been able to have a true friendship/relationship because by the time I befriend them, I'm gone just as fast. Most recently, I move to Spokane, Washington in the summer of 2018. Luckily, I lived in Kentucky for almost eight years, and I was able to develop some strong bonds, as well as grow fond of the environment I live in. I've never been able to get used to anywhere, because I've lived as far north as Chicago and as far south as Alabama. I've grown the ability to adapt quite well through my moving so often.

Overall, I believe I am a strong candidate due to my willingness to work hard, give maximum effort, and be put out of my comfort zone to play college baseball. My goal is to prepare myself for life after baseball through my education and the morals I learn as a result of playing high school and collegiate sports.

  • Justin Doyle (2019 RHP, Spokane, WA) sat 82-86mph on his fastball mixing in a curveball at 64mph and a ustin Doyle is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-3 210 lb. frame from Spokane, WA who attends Mead Senior. Large frame with long limbs and present strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and utilized drop and drive lower half actions to the plate. Clean arm circle straight back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball comes out of hand very with good downhill plane and run to arm side in the mid 80's, topped at 86 miles per hour. Maintained arm speed with a curveball offering that showed 12/6 shape with tight spin and late, hard depth in the upper 60's. Also flashed a changeup offering that generated good fade in the mid 70's. Consistently attacked the bottom of the strike zone while showing good feel to the edges of the plate with all three pitches. Worked out defensively from first base showing aggressive footwork while ranging for and centering the baseball. Displayed soft hands while funneling out front and produced accurate, on line carry across the infield at 84 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and hanging front side trigger. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Deeper hand set at load and worked to contact on a loose path. Employed a fluid, naturally leveraged barrel plane through extension. Looked to attack the baseball out front and create lift to the outfield gaps. Flashed good strength with solid carry when on time and squared. Excellent student. • Pitching: Good overall, I think you could really benefit from gaining more momentum through delivery. Young pitcher that will only get stronger and more physical. Fielding/Batting: Work on having more rhythm and balance through the ball in the field. When hitting, don't let your hands load down. Work on not letting your front side leak too early.

Hits from a consistent launch position. Shows ability to hit to all fields. Solid contact made with ball. Active approach to the ball at 3B. Fields with glove out in front. Areas to Improve: Continue to develop overall strength and speed. Long toss to improve arm speed and action. Be more explosive with lower half through contact at the plate. Work to eliminate the extra shuffle after securing the ball at 3B. Pitching Feedback: 6-foot, 170 pounder pitches from a high ¾ slot with a long arm action. Easy effort with smooth rhythm in the delivery. Good direction to the plate. Fastball has occasional run at 75-77 and thrown for a strike. Breaking ball has an 11/5 shape with gradual break at 61-63.
