Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Philip Derouen. I currently attend Carencro High School and I graduate in 2016. As a student at Carencro High School, I am ranked number 37 out of 228 students in my class, which means I am in the top 16% of my class. I have made A, B Honor Roll each and every year since school has begun. As a student at Carencro, I play baseball and I am trying to get to the collegiate level. As a baseball player, I work hard every single day, day in and day out, to be better and ahead of everyone else out there. I constantly go to the baseball field and gym to improve on my skills to get better. I always work on my hitting and my mechanics to make sure my swinging motion is correct and to make sure that I am not doing anything wrong with my swing.  I also always work on my fielding and speed drills to make sure that all of my angles in the outfield are correct and speed drills so I can make sure that I always catch up to the ball whenever it is hit to me. I constantly work hard everyday to acheive my dream as a Professional Baseball Player. If given the opportunity to play collegiate baseball from someone, it will be a decision they won't regret.

  • Had scouts from the various college division levels and one from the professionals. Gave us tips on how to become a better athlete and as a person. Ran the 60 yard dash, did position drills, then later, took Batting Practice on the field. On Sunday, we had a game in front of the scouts to show them what we learned. I finished the game 2-2 with 2 singles and 1 RBI. One of the singles was a hard line drive to left field and the other was a hard hit ground ball to 1st base to score the runner in from 3rd.

The next day of the camp, we had a game to to show if we used the skills they taught us. Alabama State wants a second look at me at their upcoming showcase on July 18,19
