Personal Statement
My goals overall is to get a good education at a school that I can fit in. I would like to stay within the sports field so I plan studying to become an Athletic Trainer. My dream is to play baseball at a school that will be able to see my strengths both as a student and a player. I'm looking for a school that can look a bit past grades and gpa to see an individual who has aspirations and goals and the will to work hard to succeed. My ideal goal is that I can make a difference at the school I'm at both on and off the field. I do see myself as a baseball player first, that is what motivates me. During the last 10 years, my focus has always been on baseball. I've played since I was 6 years old. My notable years came when I was playing at the Reagan League in Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA. I was part of the teams that won the championship those years and selected to participate in the Mayor's Cups representing the league. I also played for The Stars of the Future Roslindale league. Here as well I played a key role in wining the championship. I was the team motivator and often they would look to me to help get the win. During those years, I became known as 'Big Papi' as my home runs and my stance resembled David Ortiz. David Ortiz is my idol. What he has done for others, how he has become an amazing athlete are things I strive for. I'm usually the fun guy in the group. I try to keep things lighthearted and defuse any bad energy. My love for baseball is equal to my love for my teammates. My best friends today are the kids I grew up with playing baseball. In 2013, I attended a tryout to be part of the Brookline Knights AAU traveling team. I got into the team and spent the next 1.5 years with them. I learned a lot from coach John, he was tough but his high expectations elevated my playing game to another level. I joined Cathedral High School for Freshman year in September 2012. In the spring, I tried out for their Varsity team and made it. That first year was an amazing year. Now as a senior, I'm working hard for my summer league and searching for college where I'll be able to continue my education and dream of becoming an athletic trainer. I'm also looking forward towards being a key member of my school Varsity team. I also plan on being part of The Base, a baseball organization in Roxbury, that focused on academics and baseball. I will also be part of The Stars league from Roslindale. All this work will help strengthen my core baseball skill and become a better candidate for playing college baseball. I have a lot of people that inspire me in my life, my mom who has been the main person pushing me and not letting me fall when I wanted to give up. The rest of my family for their support. I feel that I'm ready to take on this new chapter in my life.
