My name is Clark Burroughs, and I am in the Class of 2019 at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. I have been playing baseball since I was 6 years old, and would like to continue playing at the collegiate level. I believe that I have the tools it takes to play in a Division 1 program. I also work very hard in the classroom, and feel that the coursework at DeMatha Catholic will prepare me for college studies.
My primary position is catcher and I also play first base. I am very comfortable behind the plate and am a presence on the field with my 6’ 3” frame. I am very athletic, receive the ball very well, and use my size and knowledge of the game to the best of my abilities. I am a strong hitter, and have been referred to as an elite hitter for my age. This summer I participated in the PBR Futures games in Indiana for Team Mid-Atlantic, where I was mentioned on the 2019 Hotlist for going 4-8 with 3 triples, and my performance behind the plate.
As a person, I am very loyal, conscience of others, and competitive. I carry these traits into baseball as a teammate, playing for the team. Throughout the eleven years I have been playing baseball, I have had many coaches and umpires comment on my coachability, even temperament, and team philosophy. I take commitment very seriously and am willing to work hard. In order for me to attend DeMatha Catholic, I commute 1.5-2 hour daily. I make this commitment and sacrifice to be part of the DeMatha family where I am able to learn and grow as a student, a person and an athlete. I know if given the chance I will add to the success of a college baseball team.
